Just wrapped another great AZ Teen Cover photoshoot. I love that we always have fun with these shoots.
Behind the scenes of the LA Based band “The Smart Set”, ” Tornados” Music Video.
Working with Billy Johnson of Glasssidewalk productions, and the band “The Smart Set” while shooting their latest music video “Tornados” in Santa Monica and Los Angeles.
Who: The band – “The Smart Set” (http://www.smartsetmusic.com/) they are Brandi Emma, Rick Torres, Wayne Lothian(of the English Beat), Dave Schulz(Goo Goo Dolls) and Chris O’Brien. Manager – George Ghiz (We shot at his beautiful villa inspired house in Santa Monica overlooking Pacific Coast Highway)
What: “Tornados” Music Video -
“Tornados” is the story We shot live band footage in this historic dive bar in LA. Hundreds of old records were mounted to the ceiling. Perhaps one of the best parts of the production was when we were doing some night shots of Brandi Emma(Singer) dressed up in her vintage clothes and giant updo driving down Santa Monica Boulevard with a camera rig and lights attached to the hood of the car. Everyone on the street just stopped in their tracks and pointed as this bright orange 62′ Ford Falcon went driving down the road with a girl singing along to the blasting music while being shot from the camera on the hood. She was a one person music video production! In a town were people are just used to seeing productions all the time, it was funny to get so much attention. We shot a multi-camera using the Canon 5d mkii to get the most coverage for our fast schedule.
Where: Los Angeles & Santa Monica (Great dive bar in LA(need name for you), and the amazing home of George Ghiz in the Santa Monica hills)
When: June 2009
Why: We shot the video to promote The Smart Set’s first album. This was also a great opportunity to test out the HD Video capabilities of the new Canon 5d mkii.

Photoshoot with musician Brandi Emma for her “Photographic Memory” EP release.
I recently shot some album and promo photos with one of the nicest (and talented) women in music. Brandi Emma. Brandi and I have worked together over the past few years with her previous band “The Smart Set”, and now on her solo EP “Photographic Memory”. I was pretty stoked to work with an awesome hair & mau duo Christi Cagle for The Rex Agency and Anna Branson for Artmix. They were both great to work with and I’m excited to do more with them. Wishing Brandi the best with this new release.
TED GLOBAL – Oxford
Just got back from Oxford, UK on monday after a week at TED GLOBAL. Once again, another group of incredibly inspiring people following(and sharing) their passions and making a difference for others in the process. I’ve been to two TED conferences now, and each time I come home energized to push my photography further and be fearless in the journey to grow both personally and professionally. After 18 hours of traveling home, I’ve had alot of time to think about moving forward. I’m stoked… Let’s get started!
